Review of the Best Black Computer Desks:

1. GreenForest Black L Shaped Computer Desk

Black MDF, combined with steel supports, create the base appearance of this minimalist desk. There are no extraneous features included, neither monitor shelf nor keyboard tray. Perfect for someone looking for ‘just a corner desk.’ The legs are adjustable to ensure it can rest evenly on any surface, with a surface that’s perfect for dual monitor setup.

First Impressions
The GreenForest desk is a straightforward affair, but one that is perfectly suited to a general home office environment. There’s a lot to appreciate in its minimalist design, especially if you’re one of those who don’t mind having your keyboard on the desk. and is an excellent value for those who need nothing more than a corner desk that will suit their needs.

This desk is also appreciably durable, and the arrangement of the desk surfaces can be changed to make it able to be placed in any corner.

2. Atlantic Modern Black Computer Desk

When you need a small desk that will easily fit into even the most compact of spaces, this desk is likely to fit the bill. It maximizes its area by including a monitor platform, phone charging cradle, drink holder, under-desk storage cage, and mounts for speakers and headsets. There’s nothing not to love in this innovative design.

First Impressions
My first impression of this desk was, “what are all these attachments for?” It took no time at all for me to realize that those attachments were works of interior design genius. While I was disappointed to find that the cage under the desk wasn’t a keyboard desk, I was intrigued at the idea of convenient under-desk storage space.

I love the cup holder, and the ability to charge my phone and watch for notifications without having to look down at my desk made the charging cradle a particular favorite. In the end, I discovered that this desk was a combination of great features for the gaming aficionado with limited space.

Features

  • Underdesk storage bin
  • Phone charging cradle
  • Cup Holder
  • Speaker and Headphone Mounts
  • Overall dimensions: W: 40” D: 24”H: 30”

3. Furinno Small Black Computer Desk

A simple but attractive gray and black laptop desk with convenient desktop shelves and under-desk storage area. The faux wood construction gives it a semi-rustic feel that makes it an excellent addition to any home’s functional décor.

First Impressions
My first impression of this desk made me think more of an entryway catch-all than a computer desk with its raised shelving area on the back and storage shelf underneath. As I spent some time with it, it started to grow on me. Clearly intended to be used with a laptop rather than a tower setup this desk has a deceptively convenient design.

I did find it nearly impossible to avoid using the shelf underneath as a footrest, even after I put things there to use it as storage. This may be due to my propensity for sitting bellied up to my computer desk; you’ll have to decide that for yourself. If you use a small to a mid-size laptop and have limited space for a desk, this is going to be a great option.

It would also make a great addition to a guest room.

Features

  • Underdesk Storage Area
  • Raised shelving for easy storage on desktop
  • Compact design for limited space
  • Quick Assembly
  • Overall dimensions: W: 31” D: 18” H: 35”

4. Ameriwood L-Shaped Black Corner Computer Desk

A black l-shaped desk with convenient storage shelves and ample desktop space. Smooth and reflective surface gives it an elegant appearance, while it’s wood-grained particleboard gives it a lightweight and sturdy construction.

First Impressions
This desk brings something to the proverbial table not found in the other desks I reviewed, ample and conveniently placed storage for binders, books, and other knick-knacks. The corner grommet for holding cables is very convenient and helps to keep your desktop and the area under your desk uncluttered.

The particleboard construction means that it is very durable, and any damage it sustains will be localized and easy to repair. For those who prefer something other than black, this model also comes in white with a natural wood top, and a lovely brown espresso tone.

If you’re looking for a desk that brings extra storage and convenient cable management techniques as part of its features, take a closer look at this desk.

Features

  • Ample surface space
  • Convenient Shelves For Storing Binders Or Books
  • Built-in grommets for cable management
  • Combines the compact design with ample storage
  • Overall dimensions: W: 51” D: 53” H: 28”

5. Walker Edison Black Glass Computer Desk

A desk that brings together simple design with convenient functionality this desk by Walker Edison has a lot to offer. The only desk included in this list that has a keyboard tray, it also includes a convenient CPU mount and a beautiful glass top that helps give it a professional appearance. The powder coat black steel supports to ensure that it’s durable and attractive.

First Impressions
The minimalist design combines with a focus on compactness to bring a desk that is perfect for any office setting or small room. While my personal space could accommodate a desk larger than this, I was still tempted by this one due to its excellent and simplistic design. The keyboard tray is sturdy, and can easily handle most of the standard keyboards on the market.

The powder coat steel legs ensure that this desk is far sturdier than they make it appear. The CPU stand was incredibly convenient and helped to keep dust and other particulates out, making it necessary to clean it out less often. One last feature that I loved was its ability to split into two separate desks and be rearranged to suit any need, and any corner.

Features

  • Surprisingly Durable
  • Light and Easy To Move
  • Minimalist Features
  • Compact Design
  • Overall dimensions: W: 30” D: 29” H: 20”

FAQ

How to Get Rid of Marks On Black Computer Desks

I mentioned earlier that black desks are easy to clean, and I didn’t lie to you. However, this comes with the unique struggle of a surface that tends to show off every spot of dust and dirt. Cleaning this off the desk is a breeze, a paper towel, and a little water will clear it all away.

The best part is thanks to the way black makes it really visible you can rest assured knowing you’re not missing a spot. One concern with cleaning a black computer desk is not fading the finish and leaving an unsightly light spot. I suggest using gentle cleaners like dish soap and water and testing any cleaning agent on a place not likely to be seen.

If a more aggressive cleaning is needed, I suggest rubbing alcohol, but you’ll want to test your finish to see if it can tolerate it without leaving a mark. We also find that citrus-based oil wood cleaners are perfect for wooden and faux-wood desks, and leave a subtle shine on it. For glass desks, we recommend traditional ammonia-based glass cleaners.

How To Pick A Black Computer Desk

Picking the right black computer desk requires taking several things into consideration. It starts with the layout and design of the desk. If you’re looking to maximize space in a small room, I generally suggest getting an L-Shaped desk so you can take advantage of the entire area your desk will be occupying.

For those who have a small nook to fill there’s always the compact and minimalist desks that are little more than a small tabletop large enough to hold your monitor and keyboard.

Even though the primary color of your desk has already been selected, there are multiple options in two-tone desks like the gray-black one listed below that can help add interest. Finally, you need to consider what kind of abuse you’ll be putting the desk though.

If you regularly have a desk with multiple peripherals and items on it, or if you plan on using it for crafting, you’re going to want to make sure you get one with sturdy supports.

Conclusion

Also, here’s a honorable mention of my previous reviews:

I had a hard time picking favorites out of this list, but I’d have to say that the Walker Edison really sold me based on the keyboard tray alone. The Ameriwood desk was a strong contender, those shelves really had me looking hard at it, but ultimately the need for a keyboard tray made me veer back towards the Edison.

My love of glass computer desks may have had something to do with that, to be fair. The other desks were great options for my other need, a desk for my living room that wouldn’t take up too much space. Both of the small desks were great, but the gamer desk had too many features I didn’t need in my living space worktop.

Also, the gray and black of the Furinno desk was just too cute to ignore, so I picked one up. These desks all have something to offer to the discerning buyer, and what works for me may not work for you. A friend fell in love with the Ameriwood desk and picked up two for his shared home office.
